At Home Laser Hair Removal?

If you’re like me, you’re sick and tired of shaving, waxing, and plucking… Cuts, knicks, ingrowns, burns, and other skin injuries are usually accessories of this endless ritual that we call hair removal.  Enter: The Laser.

A permanent solution… Well sort of.  You have to go back for repeated sessions, and depending on your hair and skin color, it works better for some than others.  But even 80% reduction in hair that you have to rip out of the follicles or shave would be nice, right?  Especially since we’re in the prime of the skin bearing season… not me of course… I go out with my SPF 10000, a trench coat, and Sombrero…. don’t give me that look, my Sombrero is pink, so it’s cool.

Anyway, that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t enjoy never having to shave or wax again… But who wants to spend thousands of dollars (especially in this economy) on something so superficial as laser hair removal. I DO! But, I don’t have that cash to throw away… so I won’t… not to mention I’m not gonna let some stranger near my naked skin with a machine that might scar me for life… Nosireebob.  I’m a bit on the bashful side to begin with.

Fortunately, Silk’n has created a device you can buy and use at home yourself and achieve the same (or at least similar) results… for much less.  The Silk’n SensEpil.  Now available at Sephora.

A portable, FDA cleared device that offers the visual results of in-office laser hair removal in the convenience and privacy of your own home.

Silk’n SensEpil™ is an over-the-counter innovation that delivers the clinically proven effectiveness of the well-established, market-leading Silk’n™ sold by physicians. This breakthrough product harnesses the power of proprietary Home Pulsed Light™ (HPL™) technology to create a cutting-edge, safe, user-friendly hair-eliminating solution. Look no further if you want a quick, gentle, safe, and affordable way to diminish unwanted body hair. This must-have device and replacement cartridges provide a lifetime of personal treatments at a fraction of the cost of physician office visits.

How much is it you ask? Well, it’s far less expensive than the multiple sessions you’ll need if you go have laser hair removal professionally done, but it’s still costs a pretty penny.  $500 will get you the SensEpil device, a power cord, a lamp cartridge, a quick start guide, and an instructional DVD. Best part is, the SensEpil is PINK!

Let’s just take a moment to compare to professional laser hair removal costs.  The national average for a laser hair removal session is about $400; and the average person needs 4 sessions to achieve the desired results.  That’s $1600 right there.  I understand that depending on the body area being lasered and the location on the globe that these costs vary, but even at the cheapest (for reputable physicians) is still far more expensive than this little at home machine.

Have I tried it? No. I would very much like to… but I don’t actually have the $500 to blow on it.  So feel free to send me the money and I’ll go get one.  Hear that Silk’n?  I’m a willing participant!  If you want to send me a SensEpil, I’ll gladly test it and write a thorough review for you!  Please?  Well, I tried.
